2023 Fall Festival & Movie Night

Saturday, October 28th | 4-8PM

Fall Festival is a class-wide tent-or-treat on the Big Yard. This year, it will be followed by the Fall Movie Night! In honor of Halloween, the movie will be Hotel Transylvania 2! Grant family-owned and Gecko favorite, Rocky’s Tacos will be parked in front of the school on Pearl Street from 4-8PM for all your food and beverage needs.

Bring a bag or bucket for treats
Bring water bottle and snacks
Blankets or chairs for the movie

Each class will create a themed tent and volunteer at it on the day of the event. HERE are some ideas to get thoughts started. Anything “trunk” can be done in a tent! Classes can host an activity/game, giveaway or both. All giveaways must be NUT FREE. Bring flashlights, lanterns, headlamps for cleanup as it may get dark.

Set up blankets/chairs and a picnic. Enjoy the movie and let the kids run off the treats they consumed.

Volunteer FAQ

What is the Event? A free trick-or-treating experience through decorated tents, hosted by each class, from 4-6 pm open to all Grant families, followed by Movie Night (Hotel Transylvania 2) from 6-8 PM. 

Grant will be open as early as 10 am for classes and families to come set up their tents.

What classes are assigned to this event? Every class is being asked to decorate a tent and provide the volunteers to hand out goodies or conduct activities during this 2-hour window. This is up to the parents of the class, the teachers have NO involvement. Traditionally at Grant every class runs an event or an activity for Fall Festival and this is keeping with tradition.

The class Room Reps should lead the charge for sign-ups or a parent volunteer can offer to be the lead.

What does each family need to bring? A bag or bucket for collecting treats, reusable water bottles, blanket or chairs for the movie portion of the event, food or snack if desired. There will be food for purchase.

Are costumes allowed Yes! There will also be a “Take One, Share One” rack at the front of the school for people to either donate a costume to, or take a free one from.

What is not allowed at the event? Dogs (except for service animals), alcoholic beverages, sharp objects, or objects made of glass, candies or treats that contain nuts. If you are using plastic cups or utensils please make sure if broken, they would not have sharp edges.

Do we need a group of volunteers specifically for setting up tables and booths? No, we should not, but the more hands the better. Each class will be setting up their own EZ-Up or whatever they want to use to decorate their space. Those EZ-Ups should be able to be assembled by the class volunteers. There will be extra hands available from our assigned classes. The take-down of the tents will also be the responsibility of the class. Please label everything with Name and Phone Number.

Will there be a map of where to put my class booth? Yes. The map will be shared the week of the event.

Do we need to buy tickets? No, this is a FREE community event.

Will we have other community volunteers? Maybe, but parents should plan to staff their tents for two hours, and be responsible for setup and takedown.

Who provides the giveaways or candy? Each class can purchase their or giveaways (NUT FREE ONLY) OR the PTA will provide giveaways and treats. 

Any available games from previous festivals? Yes, some. A list will be provided to the point person for each class.
